Olivia Duffey
Olivia Duffey is THE END FM’s Content and Training Coordinator, Youth Mentor and Trainer.
The 21 year-old moved to Deniliquin in late 2012, and completed years 7 to 12 at Deniliquin High School, excelling in Academics, Performing and Creative Arts, Sports and Hospitality. She started her career in journalism at the local paper, eventually joining the team at THE END FM on February 22 of 2020, and has been here ever since. Olivia is studying a Cert IV in Screen and Media, but brings a plethora of knowledge, experience, community connections and most importantly, passion, to this youth community radio station. Olivia took on the role of interim Station Manager in late 2021, to early 2022.
Olivia was directly involved in the launch of the radio station in August of 2021, and began THE END FM’s first regular broadcast – ‘Afternoon with Olivia’ – in October of 2021. The show has developed, becoming a weekday regular from 2pm to 5pm reporting on local news, entertainment and releasing brand new singles. Olivia also started the Reality Check podcast, and helped produce many others – including the Hay High School Series, Youth Voice & THE END CHATS. Olivia has also been responsible for the creation of the Instagram and TikTok pages, taking over Facebook soon after, managing all 3 platforms with engaging posts, graphics, photos, videos and audio. And she designs the graphics and posters, which sometimes include original artwork.
Highlights in her career have included producing the first episode of Reality Check ‘Life After Death’ exploring what the people of Deniliquin believe happens after we experience the irreversible cessation of all functioning – death. Additionally, she interviewed Skegss, Spacey Jane, GRAACE, Northeast Party House and Beddy Rays (who she then went and saw live) ahead of the Play on The Plains festival in 2022. She is extremely proud of the ever-developing Youth Leadership Team, mentoring those involved, the education programs she organises and sometimes teaches, but more than anything, fostering everything THE END FM is about and giving youth opportunities in the region.
So overall, Olivia, as a founding member of THE END FM, is someone the current team and future generations can look to for advice, encouragement, opportunities and good content.
